Peacefully located in leafy gardens just a stone's throw from the lakeshore, Arcadia Lodge offers a comfortable and friendly option for travellers visiting Lake Mburo National Park.

Located 2km from the park headquarters at Rwonyo, Arcadia Lodge is an ideal base from which to explore the park on a game drive, spot crocodiles and hippos on the launch trip or really get close to nature on a guided walking safari.

Our eight self-contained cottages are arranged around a central lodge building, where guests can enjoy the tasty dishes in our restaurant or relax and take in the stunning view from our newly built raised deck.  In the evenings, guests can wind down from an exciting day's safari around our open fire, sipping on a cold drink from the bar while impala, warthog and the occasional hippo munch on the grass just yards away.

LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

One of Uganda's smaller national parks, Lake Mburo National Park

is nevertheless a real gem of a park and well worth visiting.

It's 14 lakes, the largest of which is Lake Mburo itself, and connecting swamplands are home to hippo, crocodile and some 315 bird species, some of which are found nowhere else in the country.  Likewise, its savannah plains and acacia woodlands are the only place in Uganda to see the elegant impala, while eland and Burchell's zebra are found only here and in the far more remote and inaccessible Kidepo National Park.

Of the "Big Five", buffalo are plentiful, leopard are regularly sighted, and lion, once extinct in the park, have made a recent (though limited) return.  Lake Mburo National Park is also the only park in Uganda offering walking safaris, a unique opportunity to leave the confines of your 4x4 and view some of Africa's most majestic scenery and wildlife on foot.
